LASER THERAPY
Frequently Asked  Questions
[FAQs]

Is laser therapy safe? Laser therapy is completely safe and painless.
It has been widely used internationally for over 30 years and to our knowledge there has never been any negative known side effects. The laser used by Health Awareness Laser Therapy is a low-level laser, no more powerful than a 20-watt light bulb.

What parts of the body are treated with the laser? A low-level laser is applied to specific energy points on the hands, nose, head, and ears which are associated with nicotine addiction.

Is laser therapy covered by medical insurance? Laser Therapy for the treatment of smoking cessation is not eligible for health insurance coverage. However, Health Awareness Laser Therapy’s program is affordable at $380. A pack a day smoker approximately spends $1,500-$1,800 annually, the costs of procedure less than 1/4 of a person’s annual cigarette expenditure.

How effective is laser therapy for smoking cessation? International clinical studies have shown higher success rates at ending nicotine addiction than any other nicotine replacement therapy method.

How Many Treatments are needed? Laser therapy has been successful for total smoking cessation - in many instances after just one 30-minute treatment. The increased rate of the body’s endorphin production helps the client through the crucial physical withdrawal period. Generally the first 72 hours are the most difficult time for a person to quit smoking.

Are there any health or medical conditions that would make laser therapy an unsafe treatment? If you are pregnant, have active cancer or taking photosensitive medication, laser therapy should not be used for smoking cessation treatment. Laser therapy promotes cell growth and repair, therefore studies are inconclusive on the effects of the above situations. Not treating these particular clients is a precautionary measure. Health Awareness Laser Therapy does not diagnose or treat illness or prescribe medication. Laser therapy is not intended to replace medical care. We recommend that you consult your physician for a professional diagnosis of your health.

Is it guaranteed? Treatment using low-level laser therapy is designed to help the client physically cope with urges and cravings. The low-level laser does not take away your psychological addiction to nicotine. During the procedure the client listens to a CD that will provide tools on how to live a nicotine free lifestyle. The CD’s main purpose is to direct the client on how to effectively break their psychological addiction to nicotine. Each client has a unique level to his/her addiction, so laser therapy cannot be guaranteed. Health Awareness Laser Therapy works closely with each client to ensure their success.

How much is laser therapy treatment and what is included? The treatment costs $380 and includes: education about nicotine addiction and our Health Awareness laser therapy nonsmoker support kit, which is our exclusive detox program.

How does laser therapy help to diminish weight gain? When a smoker gives up nicotine their metabolism will start to slow down, as their body returns to its normal healthy state. To temporarily counteract weight gain our laser therapists treat energy points which speed up your metabolism and suppress appetite. Treatment of these energy points will help the body adjust to this new lifestyle change of becoming a nonsmoker. In addition, your therapist will recommend healthy eating habits to avoid weight gain. Weight ‘add-on’ points will be an additional $75.00.
